After celebrating their 15th anniversary with a compilation album where they revisited some of their most celebrated tracks, each accompanied by a luxurious collaboration, A Contra Blues releases their next album of original songs: SPITFIRE.
The SPITFIRE brought a ray of hope in a moment of darkness, with its elegant design and powerful Rolls Royce engine. Its ability to perform impossible maneuvers and the skill of its pilots made it a decisive element in the resistance.
SPITFIRE also means free and wild.
And here we have A Contra Blues in Barcelona, 21st century, tough times for rock and roll, and yet they continue with their strong commitment to culture, offering a handful of new songs to their people, resisting, free, and wild.
In this new work, we find an extension of the sounds they introduced in Jab (2019), raw, hot, and with a wide dynamic range. From smooth to wild, in SPITFIRE, we hear a mature band clearly at its best, both compositionally and in performance. This formation, which has drawn from the sources of Blues and other Afro-American root music since its beginnings, consolidates in this album as a project that delves into the tradition of great classic Anglo-Saxon rock bands with influences like The Rolling Stones, The Electric Flag, The Allman Brothers Band, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, Albert Lee, Johnny Guitar Watson, Ben Harper, or Charles Bradley, and with a clear intention: to fuel the fire!
